The center of Romanian culture, Bucharest has a historic heart with a collection of neoclassical, art nouveau, and revivalist architecture which wouldn’t look out of place in London, Paris, or Berlin. They include the CEC Palace, whose grand edifice stands opposite the National Museum of Romanian History on Calea Victoriei, the city’s most celebrated street. A visit to the monumental Palace of the Parliament gives a glimpse into the country’s more recent history, while the beautiful King Michael I Park lets visitors delve further into history as well as nature thanks to its Village Museum, displaying historically important buildings from across Romania.
