Latvia lies in between Estonia and Lithuania on the Baltic Sea. It may not get as much attention as its near neighbours and the Scandinavian countries when it comes to multi-centre city breaks, but its capital, Riga, has a wealth of attractions to rival the best of them and trips here are increasing in popularity all the time.
The Freedom Monument commemorates Latvia’s independence and the House of the Blackheads is located in the city’s old town and has an eye-catching Gothic façade. Riga also lays claim to having Europe’s largest market. The Central Market is UNESCO World Heritage listed and has been open for business for almost 90 years.
