Stretching roughly north to south, Lake Garda is Italy’s largest natural body of water. Pushing into the Alps, its towns and villages offer spectacular walking and photography opportunities, while closer to the shoreline visitors will find an excellent array of authentic Italian restaurants alongside some delightfully historic locations. The lake’s southern end is generally regarded as the most beautiful, with Sirmione at its heart. Almost cut off by water, its stunning Old Town center is full of incredible buildings. But with fast hydrofoils connecting north and south, it’s possible to do the entire lake the justice it deserves.
