A resort town located within a national park of the same name, Banff has become a popular destination for Canadians and international visitors. But all come for the same attractions, the town’s proximity to the Rocky Mountains, which in turn promise a wealth of hiking opportunities in summer, and skiing in the winter months, often within sight of the spectacular Lake Louise. Banff is also a great place to admire much of Canada’s megafauna, whether that’s the moose that keep the grasses closely cropped on the edge of town, or its healthy populations of brown and black bears.
