Divided between upper and lower cities, the Croatian capital of Zagreb is well worth your time. Wander its main streets and you’ll find a plethora of elegantly decorated buildings from the height of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, in addition to the Gothic cathedral in the upper town and pleasant cafes of the lower town. Uniting them together is a unique sense of self, which never sees Zagreb or its people ever try to be something that it’s not. The result is a pleasingly alluring town, full of quirky attractions, from the Museum of Broken Relationships to once plain walls now covered in stunning murals.
