Tucked into the famed Black Forest, Germany’s tiny Triberg could very easily have come from a children’s fairy tale. Historic houses in a variety of hues line course of its narrow river, while others rise up the hillside amid spectacular views. Though housing just a few thousand permanent residents, Triberg is able to boast an impressive waterfall, access to the Black Forest Railway, the world’s largest cuckoo clock, and an array of workshops keeping the region’s traditions of wood carving alive. To visit Triberg is to temporarily step back in time, while still enjoying all the benefits of the current age.
